Board Goals

2015-2018
  • By 2018, all LCSD schools will be performing at or above the state average, as measured by the Oregon Department of Education.
  • The LCSD Board of Directors will assist the superintendent and the district in using available resources in the most efficient way possible to increase student opportunity.
  • The Board will educate itself and be knowledgeable as to the district’s current needs and strategies to increase student achievement, and will have the ability to communicate these to the community.
2014-2015
  • The LCSD Board of Directors will assist the superintendent and the district in using available resources in the most efficient way possible to increase student opportunity.
  • The Board will educate itself and be knowledgeable as to the district’s current needs and strategies to increase student achievement, and will have the ability to communicate these to the community.
  • The Board will recognize and celebrate the completion of the capital improvement projects.
  • The Board will negotiate a contract with the LCEA, representing the needs and interests of the children of the district.
2013-2014
  • The LCSD Board of Directors will acknowledge student achievement by:
    • Recognizing elementary students for learning multiplication tables.
    • Recognizing students of all levels for achievement in non-fiction writing.
    • Exploring and supporting art programs for students.
  • The Board will continue supporting completion of the capital improvement projects.
  • The Board will complete a Superintendent Search and successful transition.
  • The Board will negotiate a contract with the Lincoln County Education Association (LCEA).
  • The Board will establish new policies resulting from the last legislative session.
2012-2013
  • The LCSD Board of Directors will acknowledge student achievement by:
    • Recognizing elementary students for learning multiplication tables. (Board members will present the student with a certificate in the classroom, and will call the parents. If the parents cannot be reached, a letter signed by the board member will be sent).
    • Recognizing students of all levels for achievement in non-fiction writing. Students will be recognized at school board meetings in that area.
    • Exploring and supporting art programs for students.
  • The Board will continue supporting initiatives already in process.
  • The Board will implement a new evaluation instrument for the Superintendent’s
    evaluation in 2012/13, with a beta test in October/November 2012.
  • The Board will explore how technology can assist the Board become more
    efficient.
2010-2011
  • The LCSD Board of Directors will acknowledge student achievement by:
    • Recognizing elementary students for learning multiplication tables. (Board members will present the student with a certificate in the classroom, and will call the parents. If the parents cannot be reached, a letter signed by the board member will be sent).
    • Recognizing students of all levels for achievement in non-fiction writing.
    • Exploring and supporting art programs for students.
  • The Board will analyze the licensed contract to:
    • Decide if they want to negotiate with teachers;
    • Decide what parameters to give the bargaining team.
  • The Board will continue supporting initiatives already in process, i.e., curriculum alignment, mentor programs, business/community partnerships and individual school improvement plans.
  • The Board will develop a new evaluation instrument for the Superintendent’s evaluation in 2011/12.
  • Explore the pursuit of a general obligation bond for facilities improvements.
2019-2010
  • The LCSD Board of Directors will acknowledge student achievement by:
    • Recognizing elementary students for learning multiplication tables. (Board members will present the student with a certificate in the classroom, and will call the parents).
    • Exploring and supporting art programs for students.
  • The Board will work with the Lincoln County Clerk to align board zones to more equally represent population, per Oregon Revised Statutes.
  • The Board will analyze the licensed contract to:
    • Decide if they want to negotiate with teachers;
    • Decide what parameters to give the bargaining team if the teachers notify us they want to bargain.
  • The Board will continue supporting initiatives already in process, i.e., curriculum alignment, mentor programs, business/community partnerships and individual school improvement plans.
