On-Campus Waiver for Fire-Displaced Students Eligibility Survey

On-Campus Waiver for Fire-Displaced Students Eligibility Survey

Posted on October 28, 2020

Lincoln County School District has been granted a waiver through the Oregon Department of Education to bring students currently displaced by the fire back to a school campus to do their virtual online classes.

There are very specific eligibility requirements in the waiver and all three conditions must be met:

  1. Currently displaced due to the Echo Mountain Complex Wildfire; and
  2. Loss of access to home, OR total loss of home, OR infrastructure of home makes virtual school access impossible; and
  3. Currently does not have long-term, stable housing with internet.

The program starts Monday, November 2nd, and will run during the school day on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. For students meeting eligibility requirements, the on-campus waiver site will either be at Taft 7-12 High School or Newport Middle School depending on the family’s current situation. Meals and transportation are provided. COVID-19 safety precautions will be followed.

This survey will help us determine student eligibility. If you would rather talk to a staff member about your student(s)’ eligibility (instead of filling out this survey), call the North County HELP Center 541-996-4878 (English) and 541-270-3816 (Spanish). Thank you!

NOTE: If you have already been notified by the school district that your student does meet the eligibility requirements and is already signed-up for this waiver starting Monday, November 2nd, please do not fill out this survey. You are all set.
