LCSD Announcement 12/8/20
On Monday, December 7, 2020, we received information that Lincoln County had a covid confirmed case count for the last 14 days of 269.4/100,000. This puts the school district into the “red zone” (according to the Oregon Department of Education and the Governor) meaning that we have to move back to Comprehensive Distance Learning K-12. In collaboration with Lincoln County Public Health, due to the fact that schools are not where the disease is being spread, we have been told that we can freeze with what we currently have (meaning nothing changes) until Winter Break December 19, 2020. We will need to monitor the number of positive confirmed covid cases daily. If the numbers continue to rise precipitously this can change. Fingers crossed we get to freeze for the next 2 weeks. This includes athletics.
Lincoln County SD will return to Comprehensive Distance Learning on January 4, 2021, for all students grades K-12 until further notice. The county-wide covid numbers must decrease vastly for the school district to be able to bring students back to school. Being that the holidays are coming, we sincerely doubt it will happen much before the middle of January, if then. Exceptions to this will be students who are wildfire survivors and a VERY limited number of students with no internet connection (no internet students will be in the Limited In-Person model doing CDL work). More Verizon hotspots are coming and will be given to students who have no connectivity and we have 4 vans with the internet that will be placed into the community: 2 in Lincoln City, 1 in Newport, and 1 in Toledo/Waldport. We will get out the word as to where they will be placed soon.
The district is still aiming for February 1, 2021, to begin Hybrid Education. This decision is made by the State of Oregon and the Oregon Department of Education and NOT LCSD. If a school district is in the red zone then you must go all Comprehensive Distance Learning and we are now in the red zone. Let’s get those numbers down Lincoln County.

Actualización del Distrito Escolar del Condado de Lincoln
El lunes, diciembre 7 del 2020, recibimos información que el Condado de Lincoln tuvo un caso confirmado de COVID-19 durante el conteo de los últimos 14 días de los 269.4/100,000 casos confirmados. Esta situación convierte al distrito escolar en “zona roja” (de acuerdo al Departamento de Educación de Oregón y la Gobernadora) lo que significa que tenemos que volver a La Educación de Distancia Compresiva de K-12 grados/educación totalmente en línea. En colaboración con El Departamento de Salud Pública del Condado, debido a estos factores, hay que clarificar que las escuelas no son donde las infecciones han sido propagadas y nos han dicho que podemos paralizar/congelar los programas que teníamos actualmente hasta el descanso de diciembre 19 del 2020. Necesitamos monitorear diariamente el número de casos positivos confirmados de COVID-19. Si los números de casos positivos continúan aumentando precipitadamente esto podría cambiar. Con suerte pudiéramos paralizar/congelar los programas de las escuelas por las próximas 2 semanas. Esto también incluye los deportes.
El Distrito Escolar del Condado de Lincoln retornara a la Enseñanza Compresiva de Aprendizaje enero 4 del 2021 para todos los estudiantes de K-12 grado hasta nuevo aviso. Los números de casos del COVID-19 deberán disminuir drásticamente para que los estudiantes puedan regresar a las escuelas. Entonces, debido a que las fiestas de invierno están muy cerca, sinceramente dudamos que esto pase antes de mediados de enero. Habrá excepciones para estudiantes sobrevivientes de los fuegos forestales y un número LIMITADO de estudiantes que no tienen acceso a señal de internet (los estudiantes que no tienen acceso al internet estarán bajo el modelo Limitado En-Persona haciendo el trabajo de CDL/educación a distancia-mitad y mitad). Están en camino más hotspots/definitivos para conexión de internet de Verizon y serán entregados a estudiantes quienes no tiene conexión, además habrá 4 camionetas/van que ofrecerán internet y se estacionarán alrededor de las ciudades: 2 en Lincoln City, 1 en Newport y la ultima en Toledo y Waldport. Anunciaremos pronto donde estarán las van escolares.
El distrito esta todavía programado para empezar la Educación Hybrid/Hibrida o Combinada en febrero 1 del 2021. Por favor ayúdenos a disminuir los casos de COVID-19 en el Condado de Lincoln (quédese en casa). Esta decisión fue tomada por el Estado de Oregón y el Departamento de Educación y NO POR EL DISTRITO ESCOLAR DEL CONDADO DE LINCOLN. SI el distrito escolar está bajo la zona roja todos los estudiantes deberán regresar a CDL/ educación total mente en línea, y ahora estamos en zona roja.
Por favor manténgase informado y lea los mensajes que le llegan por celular. Manténgase a salvo, por favor. Póngase sus máscaras/cubre bocas (cubrir su nariz y boca), permanezca distanciado socialmente y lavase muy bien sus manos. Trabajemos duro para que nuestros estudiantes regresen a la escuela de una manera segura.
