Pandemic EBT Cards – Q&A

Posted on June 2, 2020

The Oregon Department of Education, USDA and DHS are issuing Pandemic EBT cards to all children who are eligible to participate in the National Lunch Program at a free status. These benefits will include $384.00 total for each student.

Q: Who gets these cards?

A: All students enrolled of April 1st for Lincoln County School District including LC Career Tech, Eddyville, Siletz and LCSD Daycare Students, even if you have already received free meals from LSCD during our school closure.

Q: Do I need to do anything to receive these benefits?

A: No, Lincoln County School District is 100% free breakfast and lunch, so all enrolled students have already been signed up and approved for these benefits.

Q: When and How will I see my benefits?

A: Current SNAP participants should see the additional benefit added to their Oregon Trail card with June benefits or soon after. A family not already participating in SNAP will receive a new Oregon Trail card and instruction letter in the mail during late June to early July.

Q: Where can I use my Oregon Trail Card?

A: Most stores that take Oregon Trail Cards will display a sign to show the store accepts the card. You can also check at the local farmers market for spending options. It is encouraged that you use your cards locally if possible. This could put an additional $2.1 million dollars back into our local economy.

Q: What can I purchase with my Oregon Trail Card?

A: Buy food or plant starts/seeds. To learn more visit https://www.fns.usda.gov/snap/eligible-food-items

Q: What if I do not need the benefit, what do I do?

Families are not required to use this benefit. You can simply not activate the card and the unused money will be taken back after the expiration date.

Choose to help those in need in these uncertain times.

LCSD is establishing a District Food Pantry to support our families with children. Use your card to purchase non-perishable food and drop it off at the Old Arcadia School in Toledo, Seashore Family Literacy Center in Waldport, Roby’s Newport and Roby’s Lincoln City locations, or any of our summer curbside feeding locations including Crestview Heights Elementary, Sam Case Elementary, Oceanlake Elementary, Toledo High/Toledo Elementary, or Siletz Valley Charter School. Times available for donations vary from site to site, please call for more information. Please note that you may not give an Oregon Trail Card directly to another person.
